The map shows international borders as well as the boundaries of Spain. The map does not label regions or large cities, and doesn’t include rivers.
Spain is located in southwestern Europe and occupies most of the Iberian Peninsula. It borders France and Andorra to the north, Portugal to the west and Morocco to the south through the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla.
The country also has extensive coastlines along the Mediterranean Sea to the east and south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west. Its total area is about 505,000 square kilometers, making it one of the largest countries in Western Europe.

The Spanish territory is crossed by several major rivers that have played essential economic and historical roles. Among the most important are the Ebro, which flows into the Mediterranean; the Tagus, the longest river on the peninsula; the Guadalquivir, a key agricultural and cultural axis of the south; and the Douro, which traverses the northern plateau before reaching Portugal.
Spain’s geography is highly diverse, featuring mountain ranges such as the Pyrenees and the Cantabrian Mountains, vast inland plateaus, fertile river valleys, and archipelagos such as the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, which contribute to a rich variety of climates and landscapes.
Administratively, Spain is divided into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities, Ceuta and Melilla, each with a significant degree of self-government. These communities are further subdivided into 50 provinces that structure the country’s territorial administration.
Spain’s population is approximately 48 million people, concentrated in major urban areas such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Seville, while maintaining notable regional diversity in cultural, linguistic, and economic terms.
